The mouse scrambles, the crab scuttles sideways, the fish does whatever a fish does.

The first nose, claw or fin over the line settles the round.
Expect chaos
The mouse sprints then stalls, the crab goes sideways out of pure spite, and the fish just refuses to acknowledge the concept of a race.
